Where are games played?
All Recreation Soccer games (PK, K, Grades 1 & 2) for Fall 2022 will be played on Sundays at Veteran’s Memorial Park located at 80 Broadway Road, Dracut, MA.
What do I need to purchase for my child to play?
You will need to purchase a uniform. Uniforms can be purchased at Dracut Threads located at 1595 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA. Parents will need to purchase the required shin guards (as children will not be allowed play without these for their safety). Cleats, cleats are required for all age groups, except for Micro, but are preferred for safety. No baseball or any other sports cleats will be allowed if there is a cleat located in the front of the shoe. Your child may bring their own ball, but it is not required. Please label any equipment/water bottles, etc. with your child’s name.
What is allowed & not allowed?
In colder months children may wear sweatshirts or long sleeve shirts under their uniform. Jewelry of any kind is not allowed to be worn. Casts are not allowed. Girls can wear soft scrunchies/elastics in their hair – but nothing hard can be attached to them. Glasses may be worn if needed. The ultimate decision is that of the referee.
When will I hear from my child’s coach?
FALL SEASON – We typically accept registrations through the middle of August so we can begin rostering the players and building schedules. We hope to have the rosters and schedules to coaches by the end of August/beginning of September.
SPRING SEASON – We are usually still in the process of accepting registrations until early April. We hope to have rosters and scheduling to coaches by the beginning of April. They should contact parents by email right away once rosters are released. You should hear from your child’s coach by mid-April at the latest.
Do you cancel games?
Soccer is played in the rain. Cancellations will occur if the field conditions are not safe and/or unplayable. We do our best to give parents ample notice of cancellations, but it is not always possible as Mother Nature can be unpredictable.
Recreation soccer games are typically not made up, however, in past seasons when weather has had a major impact on the ability for us to get in our season games, we have arranged for make-ups.
I want to make a special request. How do I do this?
You can make a special request for your child. However, In the best interest of the children, to make team placement fair, with a league as large as ours, we simply cannot honor all requests. For this reason we ask that parents not place specific requests for coaches and or teams. Late registration requests are much more difficult to honor as placement and late registrations are accepted based on space availability and therefore not normally honored. Requests for SIBLINGS (brothers and sisters ONLY not other relatives) will most certainly be honored if they qualify for the same division.
How can I help?
Our entire league is organized and run by volunteers. We are in need of volunteers for many various duties. By having volunteers in the league, this allows us to keep fees low, and be able to offer such a successful and rewarding season for each child. Some areas in which we are in the largest need of volunteers are needed are Concessions, Field Preparation, Coaching, to name a few. The more volunteers we have the more successful our league. If you are interested in helping us by volunteering your valuable time, or have questions regarding any aspect of volunteering please email us at recreation@dracutsoccer.com.
CORI/BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS
For the protection of our children under Federal Laws the following is mandated:
- Adults must be CORI and National Background Check (NBG includes State and National Sex Offender Searches in its clearance status)
- You must complete the Safe Sport Abuse Prevention Training
- All coaches must complete the Concussion Training (CDC only)
